The only clue we are given is that ‘she’ is the reason the watcher’s husband has left her. Who is she? Who is watching her? We don’t know. Part One begins with a Prologue that makes your skin tingle with anticipation: ‘She’ is being watched. It follows the storyline of three characters: Vanessa, Nellie and Emma, and their relationships with a man called Richard. The book is about relationships – functional and dysfunctional. Let’s dive into this review by looking at the story a little more closely. This itself was enough to pique my curiosity. It says that we will assume (as readers) that things go a certain way. She has worked at Allure Magazine, and has also had her work published in the New York Times and Publishers Weekly. Greer Hendricks lives in Manhattan, New York, and has spent over two decades as an editor. After the success of The Wife Between Us, they’ve have partnered on three more novels (in order): An Anonymous Girl, You Are Not Alone and The Golden Couple. Hendricks has worked in the past as Pekkanen’s editor – today, they are a writing team of two. This book is the first collaboration between Hendricks and Pekkanen. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done something similar with The Wife Between Us.
